Photo Contest

Contest Requirements and Specifications

  • Eligibility: Members must reside at a location served by Northern Lights, Inc.
  • Photo Format: Horizontal (landscape) and vertical JPEG photos are accepted. However, only vertical images can earn a Ruralite cover spot due to orientation. Panoramic photographs are too wide, so please crop before submitting.
  • Technical Specs: Minimum 300 DPI. Maximum file size of 20MB per photo.
  • Submission Limit: Maximum of 3 photos per contestant—choose your best shots!
  • Location: All photos must be taken within the Northern Lights service territory.

Usage and Permissions

By entering the contest, you grant Northern Lights permission to use your photos in the Ruralite magazine and across all communication channels (print and digital) with proper photo credit. Ensure you have obtained necessary permissions from any identifiable people or property owners featured in your images. All photos must be taken within the service territory, and only entries that meet the technical requirements and contest rules will be accepted.

The August 1, 2026 deadline to submit a photo for the contest has past, however, we continue to welcome members to submit photos to share.
